The Passion Project and its Charitable Foundation are excited to announce the signing of the co-operation agreement with the VCPB. The relationship is based on a shared vision and set of values that focus upon putting the young person at the heart of the conversation.
Both parties share the belief that London and the UK could and should be an aspirational place to live and each citizen has a right to feel safe in the diverse, community where they live, study, work or visit.
The Violent Crime Prevention Board (VCPB) is an independent body that seeks to offer intelligence-led, strategic advice and information. The purpose of which is to assist the community, local authorities, the police, statutory and government agencies to help prevent violent crime – in particular, among young people.
By adopting a joined-up, solution-focused, theme based and intelligence-led strategy, the VCPB looks to address the main contributory factors of violent crime. These are the areas that the VCPB feel are often overlooked yet are intrinsic to tackling the violence seen within the youth of London and young people nationally. This view is aligned with the findings of the Passion Project and will form part of the research carried out by the Foundation’s Centre of Excellence for Human Development.
Violent Crime Prevention (VCP) aims to build and promote character, leadership, conflict resolution, and resilience in the community, connecting with leaders, faith-groups, police, and key service providers; this is exemplified in our motto ‘Vision to Champion Progress’. It is this approach of empowering individuals and communities,’ lighting a candle rather than cursing the darkness’ and facilitating solutions that make VCP a relevant important voice in modern crime prevention.
VCP celebrates the many successes that young people achieve every day and works closely with young people and communities in the United Kingdom to prevent violent crime. VCP aims to provide these communities with a voice, opportunities, and role models, in order to inspire success. They are using their label; VCP – Violent Crime Prevention to create a movement that uses Vision to Champion Progress as its community call.
The VCPB, Passion Project and its charitable foundation recognise that there are some very deep-seated issues within our society that can contribute to what the general public see in the media’s presentation as ‘anarchy’, however, we know that for every bad news item that is published there are thousands of excellent stories about the success and achievement of young people and the community that go unheard. Together we aim to ensure that there is a balance of information promoted about young people by ensuring we celebrate the achievements of our community as well as help further the understanding surrounding the issues that result in violent crime.
