Winning in the Game of Life™

Early intervention for lifelong confidence and wellbeing

early-intervention education programme

Winning in the Game of Life™ (WITGOL) is an early-intervention education programme that helps primary-aged children build emotional intelligence, make positive choices, and develop the foundations for long- term wellbeing. By strengthening self-awareness, confidence, and social skills, the programme gives pupils a head start – both in and beyond the classroom.

About the
Programme

WITGOL is a structured, engaging programme delivered through twelve teacher-led lessons. Each lesson uses videos, activities, and discussion prompts to help children understand their emotions, develop resilience, and learn how to make positive decisions.

The programme is designed to slot easily into a school’s existing timetable and can be delivered by class teachers with no specialist training required. It brings together:

  • Evidence-based behavioural principles
  • Age-appropriate learning materials
  • Practical tools for personal reflection
  • Guidance for educators, mentors, and families

Its aim is simple – to help people develop the internal skills required for long-term success and wellbeing.

Designed for
Today’s Curriculum

WITGOL aligns with UK guidance on spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development and supports schools in promoting the core values expected in the national curriculum.

The programme helps children explore:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect and tolerance

This ensures pupils build not only emotional skills, but an understanding of how to contribute positively to their school and wider community.

Why It
Matters

Research shows that early support for emotional intelligence leads to:

  • Improved conduct and reduced negative behaviours
  • Stronger emotional regulation
  • Lasting positive change in thinking and decision-making
  • Better academic engagement and participation

By strengthening these skills at a young age, WITGOL helps children approach challenges with confidence and build a strong foundation for future learning, relationships, and wellbeing.
